Grateful for my friend, Dianna Henry

2012 – Day #42 February 11, 2012

Grateful for my friend, Dianna Henry. Grateful that she is a smart, sensitive, spiritual seed saver! And… she started the KAW Valley Seed Project and Seed Fair 3 years ago, and it is growing like a Prairie Fire! Hundreds of people will be there today to buy, trade and savor the seeds.

Dianna, also known as “Snow Eagle Seeds Sing” will be at the Seed Fair, in Lawrence, today, releasing her new book, Whispering Ancestors, The Wisdom of Corn. Thank you, Dianna, for knowing about seeds, planting, gardening and harvesting. Thanks for caring deeply and sharing it so well with others.

Wow, I think I am really beginning to get this! And… as John Lennon and I say, “I am not the only one!”

More and more folks are beginning to see that the reality of our future together may be more like, than unlike, our indigenous forefathers and foremothers. Our indigenous ancestors knew how to live sustainably on the earth. They celebrated the harmony and the rhythms of being on EARTH TIME. And, I believe, that is what we are called to do… TODAY … and THIS MONTH!

It is February in the Northern Hemisphere of Earth and it is time to look at, trade, and buy seeds. It is the moment in time when we plan which seeds we will be planting during the upcoming months. Today is the Seed Fair in Lawrence at the Douglas County Fair Grounds. Next weekend is the Garden Show in Topeka. And on February 28th at the Learning for Life Center, we will have a potluck and a gathering to discuss our ideas, plans and concerns. Fast forward to March, and Dianna will be back in Kansas to do a workshop at Four Oaks Farm. She will be teaching us how to work WITH the earth, and to intuitively co-create our garden spaces in our gardens and at the farm.
