Creating Community with Verne
Grateful for Verne being in my life and in the life of The Learning for Life Center. He has been such a compassionate and inspirational support in my life since Micah’s death, almost two years ago. He has certainly carried on Greenlight Construction in an amazing and growth producing manner. And now, Verne is truly taking the challenge of realizing Micah’s dream of developing sustainable community, and he is doing it in creative, fun-loving and interesting ways. His changes on the outside and the inside are noticeable and I am pleased to add Verne’s own words to further explain:
“ I can’t help but marvel at all the changes happening around me. Everything has been moving so fast I have been unable to focus on anything but that which is right in front of me. However, I am changing too! I have decided to start focusing on things I want to do instead of things I thought I HAD to do. So today as I think about my day and what I have planned, everything seems to be moving in slow motion. I can breathe again and feel my own body. Wow, here I am. Right here. Life is amazing!”
Just a few of the amazing paradigm shifting talents that Verne has added to The Center and Our Community:
Plumbing Prowess: He redid not one, but two leaks, in the basement of the Learning for Life Center, and totally remodeled and plumbed two restrooms, as well! (Way to go to get those leaky emotions under control)
Building Stuff: Verne has been a carpenter and creative craftsman for his entire adult life. He and Micah teamed up to really move Greenlight Construction into new places. He is a contractor with extraordinary skills, who can build ANYTHING! He has begun the remodeling of the basement at the Center too.
Building Community: Verne has taken on the challenge of building things at Four Oaks Farm, and repairing the greenhouse. He did a cost analysis of what it will take to re-build the greenhouse in a sustainable manner. Talk to him if you have ideas or want to be part of that endeavor.
Poet, Musician, Artist, Teacher & Yogi: Verne will soon be a certified yoga teacher and is a talented musician, as well. In addition, he is a compassionate, caring and creative communicator. From Verne’s journal entry today, he and I co-created the following:
CREATING COMMUNITY
We hope that Community will become Common Place.
We discover Unity – Standing together and Working together
As we Om, we become ONE with the Universe!
We find ourselves in a place where we will, with Compassion,
Co-Exist, Co-Create and Co-Habitate!
As we Commune…living, playing, working, and eating together,
We become stronger, supporting each other, reaching our goals together!
As we Communicate with Compassion and with Unity of purpose….
We will create COMMUNITY!!!!
